Key Highlights:
As many would agree, the Election in Assembly is finally going to the streets with full swing by the union Home Minister Amit Shah. Throughout his recent speeches, he has made all the challenges stride to force people to demand the changes from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if at all elected to power.
Crackdown on Corruption and Coal Smuggling
Speaking at a rally in Jharia-an area known for its coal mines-Shah alleged that the current Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led coalition government was involved in widespread corruption and also accepts cuts in coal smuggling. He said that if the BJP came to power, those malpractices will be eradicated, and said, “We will hang corrupt leaders upside down to straighten them”.

But Shah pointed out that it was a barrier that prevented the state’s resources from being saved and reaching the actual beneficiaries at the grassroots levels. He assured the traders and the people that a BJP-led government would usher in a clear and accountable system, end the fear factor presently associated with the corrupt practices.
Waqf Board Land Encroachment
In Baghmara, Shah was said to have raised his voice in protest against Waqf Board’s alleged land grabbing of the lands of temples and farmers as well as that of the villagers. He went on to criticize board practices when he said, “The Waqf Board is in the habit of grabbing land. It has grabbed land parcels of temples, farmers, and villagers”.

Shah proposed amendments to the Waqf Act with an intention to stop such encroachments as well as assert the rights of landowners. He asked opposition leaders, such as Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party, who had opposed any amendment to the Waqf Board and said that the BJP would keep making legislative changes despite the protest.
Tackling Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigration was another theme which did not go missing from Shah’s speeches. Here, he accused the state government of the current dispensation of allowing infiltrators for vote bank politics and promised stern action against illegal immigrants if the BJP comes to power. Shah declared, “Trainloads of illegal immigrants will be sent to Bangladesh,” emphasizing party commitment to national security and the protection of local demographics.
Uniform Civil Code (UCC)
Shah reiterated the BJP’s intention to introduce the Uniform Civil Code in Jharkhand, with an eye on uniformity in the codified personal laws among citizens of the country and to stamp out practices which might harm social harmony at large. He assured the tribal societies that their customs and traditions shall be preserved saying, “No one can stop the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code to prevent infiltration in Jharkhand, and tribals will be kept out of its ambit”.
Economic Development and Employment
Beyond raising concerns on matters to do with corruption and security, Shah expressed the vision of the BJP towards industrial development in Jharkhand. “We will provide mineral-based industries to take the fullest advantage of the mineral resources in the state. And thereby reduce migration, creating employment among youth.” “We will develop mineral-based industries in Jharkhand and create an environment whereby no one will migrate to other states”.
Political Implications
Aggressive campaign by Shah reflects the BJP strategy to regain its power in Jharkhand by focusing on governance issues and positioning itself before people as a party committed to transparency and development. The BJP has focused on corruption, illegal immigration, and encroachment of land. This will appeal to the broad voter base since these are the most pressing issues people are concerned about.
Conclusion
The BJP returns to campaign with more fervour, promising to do better on eradicating corruption, implementing the law towards land rights, and truly bringing in economic development. Governance reforms about the Uniform Civil Code, curbing illegal immigration, and a change in the Waqf Act are some of the governance reforms that the party is expected to deliver. And soon, the voters will listen and decide if these promises ring a bell in their aspiration for the future of this state.
