Deepotsav 2024: Ayodhya’s Diwali and Sanatan Dharma celebrations were held in great pomp with 25 lakh diyas or earthen lamps lit along the banks of the Saryu River. Aarti of unity also marked the record.

The townsfolk of Ayodhya did break two Guinness world records: the largest crowd in a synchronized aarti for diyas, meaning Hindus light lamps and seek boons from the Goddesses. Official records cited say 25 lakh diyas lit up the ghat of Ram-ki-Paidi, flooding acres of land with glowing candle light, visible for miles on end. In addition, 1,121 people came and sat by the river side to perform aarti-an orchestrated ceremony to pay respects to Lord Ram and the sanctity of the river-as a testament to people’s collective faith.
